Unsheltered people are at a much higher risk than the general population of developing fatal cases of hypothermia or frostbite. As a partner of Cornerstones, UUCR supports the Fairfax County Hypothermia Prevention Program, which operates the North County Hypothermia Prevention Program, one of three hypothermia prevention sites in Fairfax County.
For many years, UUCR has prepared and delivered meals one night a week for approximately 35 adults spending the night at the North County Human Services Building during the coldest months of the year. We have committed to continuing this critical service this winter, from December 2023 - March 2024.
Please join us at the program orientation on November 13 to learn about how you can help prevent hypothermia for unsheltered adults in our community.
